Interim Website

I’m going to be switching hard drives on my main NSLU2 server, so in the interim, these pages are currently being served by my wife’s windows PC. The pages are actually served up faster by this machine, which is not a surprise. The purpose of the NSLU2-based system is low power after all. Anyway, let me know in the comments if there’s anything weird since the switch to Windows. I’m not sure how long it will be until this site is back on Linux, but I’ll try to give updates, or just inform you when that’s the case.

    WINDOWS??!? Gack… gurgle… splorg… wheeze…
Just kidding; the site is definitely snappier now.

I know, I know… This site has gone to the dark side… :)
But as you and I have both said, at least pages load faster. I have to admit, it was fun to get all the open source applications that power this site to run nicely on Windows. It wasn’t that hard and didn’t take that long, but I had never done it before. A learning experience, if nothing else.
In other site related news, I might try to get wordpress working with PostgreSQL instead of MySQL. Again, just for fun/a learning experience.

Yeah, I too was really excited the first time I got my website fully running on a Windows system… and was surprised that it all worked fairly easily too.
