Crocodile immune systems kill the HIV virus

This printer-friendly article over at Reuters (link outdated; removed) talks about how Crocodiles are able to kill the HIV virus and also bacteria that were resistant to penicillin, such as Staphylococcus aureus or golden staph. The blood is being analyzed and may give researchers insight on how to produce antibiotics for humans that will kill these viruses. Definitely an interesting read, at least for me.
Here’s an interesting quote from the article:

“The crocodile has an immune system which attaches to bacteria and tears it apart and it explodes. It’s like putting a gun to the head of the bacteria and pulling the trigger”
