Just Ended The Season

So my beloved Jets officially ended their season with a loss to Pittsburgh. They really should have won that game. Most people are quick to blame Doug Brien for missing 2 field goals. I sure was in that situation during the post-game show. If he made one field goal out of those 2, it would have given the Jets enough points to win. But he can’t bear all the blame though, since the offense just didn’t produce. Winning the turnover battle is what kept the Jets in the game at all, thanks to Santana Moss’ punt return for a touchdown, Reggie Tongue’s interception on defense and the fumble recovery given up by the Steelers’ running back Jerome Bettis. Any way you slice it, they just missed many opportunities and couldn’t secure the ‘W’. I’m disappointed either way, since the Jets are done for the season.
The other shocker of the weekend for me was that the Colts lost so badly to the Patriots. I thought that Peyton Manning and company’s offense was going to steamroll the Pats. I hate those Patriots, but they always seem to get the job done, which further irritates me, especially as such a die-hard green-bleeding Jets fan.
Now I have to go for the Steelers all the way, even though they just eliminated the Jets. “Look kids! Big Ben! Parliament!”
J!-E!-T!-S! Just! Ended! The! Season!
There’s always next year…

Doug Brien is (hopefully was) paid to work out, stay healthy, and kick a ball through the uprights when called to do so. Granted, his successful OT kick during the San Diego game allowed the Jets to advance to the divisionals, but he did let down his team as well as all the fans that help to pay his salary. He is as much to blame for the Jets loss as Paul Hackett and the nonexistant offensive line. He had a job to do and he failed. Sorry, enough ranting for now.

Paul Hackett’s play calling is terrible, I agree, and he must be fired. Last year, the Jets’ defense was awful, due to Ted Cotrell’s play calling. He was replaced by Donnie Henderson, they made a few changes with some new younger talent, and the defense was great this year. Having Jonathan Vilma helps a lot also of course.
So are you THE ‘eve libertine’ of Crass fame?
