So I was reading an article over at the New York Magazine’s site about Taking Back Sunday. I stumbled upon this article because I was reading about local punk bands. If you didn’t already know, Taking Back Sunday is from Amityville, right here on Long Island.
As I was reading, I came across where Eddie …practiced when he played in his “kid bands”—Mind Over Matter, Clockwise, the Inside, and the much-missed the Movielife. and it struck me: back when I was the drummer in The Problematics (now defunct), we played a few shows with Mind Over Matter. Not that I remember any of the guys in the band, or that I am a fan of TBS, but small-ish world, huh?
The Jets lost 24-20 on the road in Miami, and drop to 3 and 11. I thought they were actually going to win that one. They were playing well throughout the game, and Bollinger had a very good quarterback rating. At the end of the game the play calling just was not what it should have been and is the cause of this loss. The Jets were up by 7 going into the fourth quarter and allowed two touchdowns while only getting a field goal themselves. Two wins in a row, and what could have been the sole road win for the season would have been nice for the Green and White.
In other football news, the San Diego Chargers put an end to the Indianapolis Colts’ undefeated season. The Colts are now 13-1, but I feel they will still go to the Superbowl and win it.
Next week the Jets play on Monday Night Football, 9 PM eastern, so my summary will be on Tuesday.
It is still Reader Appreciation Week, so please drop a note.
This is cool, but made me a bit dizzy…
By the way, don’t forget to leave feedback for RAW.
Being that it is Christmas time, I’ve decided to launch my first ever Reader Appreciation Week! RAW will allow my handful of loyal readers to tell me what is good and bad about this site. OK, I admit that you can leave a comment about this in any post at any time, but this post will make it official and I will provide my undying gratitude. No, really.
You might have noticed that there are some ads on the site and hopefully other items that you may find useful, such as the search capabilities. If there are other things that you would like this site to provide to you, whether it is a good, service, better content, an image of some sort, or if you’d like to advertise your site, please let me know what I can do. I’m all ears. Well all eyes I guess, since I’ll be reading your comments. Please evaluate the site and tell me what you like and/or don’t like, but please do not simply say “It sucks” or “Great site!; please give me some details. Be honest, I can take it.
What do you get in return? Besides my “undying gratitude” as mentioned above? We can work that out too… Simply ask. I will accommodate anything reasonable, or I will compromise with you to turn something unreasonable into something reasonable.
Please make this experiment work. I can not do it without you. Now send in a comment below!
This week the Jets defeated the Oakland Raiders, improving Gang Green’s record to 3-10, if you can really call that an improvement. It did snap their 7 game losing streak. This is the wrong time to start winning games, and the possibility of drafting Heisman trophy winner Reggie Bush is getting further out of the Jets’ reach and closer to the Texans.
Rookie tailback Cedric Houston did well at his position in his first career start. Cedric filled in for the injured Curtis Martin who will have knee surgery in the near future, and not return to any games this season. Unfortunately Curtis will not get his 11th consecutive 1000+ yards seasons record which is a shame.
Next week the Jets travel to Miami to try to squish the fish, however the Dolphins have been playing pretty well and will likely beat the Jets.
More next Monday…

More of the same this week, but what’s with all the bad calls? I forgot to mention the Laveranues Coles touchdown that was taken away last week due to a bad call. It simply didn’t make any sense.
This week’s game had two calls that stand out in my mind, which were back-to-back. The first play involved pass interference where Coles was tied up by the Patriots’ DB, but the zebras didn’t throw a flag. I was screaming for a flag, but since I was at home on my couch, the refs didn’t pay any mind. The very next play, the Jets got called for holding. Even during the replay, the commentators noted that there “wasn’t much there”. At this point I was livid. In fact I am still angry about those two calls, or one call and one non-call. The officiating was horrible this year overall, especially against my Jets. I still think they would be in a similar situation, but who knows, maybe a few games could have gone the other way if the officials made the right calls.
The point of this whole rant is this: I know my team is not great this year. They’ve been plagued by injuries and bad luck with turnovers and so forth, which I readily admit and accept. But when your team is doing so badly and the officials are making bad calls, or not making calls that they should be making, it just stings that much more. /end rant.
More next Monday after the Jets battle the Raiders at home.
Well the Jets lost again this week, but by only 2 points this time. I have lost all hope and am actually looking forward to a good draft pick…
The Jets lost 27-0 to the Denver Broncos. This sucks. The Jets have slipped to 2 and 8. With 6 games left, 4 are divisional games, and 2 of the divisional games are also the Jets’ 2 remaining road games – one @New England and one @Miami. Like I’ve said before, there’s always next year. As much as I don’t want to, I think it’s well past time to give up on my beloved Jets. Even if they magically win the last 6 games, they’ll be 8-8 which would not win the division. It’s time to cut their losses. More complaining and rants to follow next weeks game.
