Well I haven’t posted in 29 days, so I figured it’s about time. Happy December to my 2 readers. I really need to post more often, this is ridiculous. Post comments to yell at me (Read: encourage me) to post more.
Just a note to say I hope you have registered to vote.
I certainly do not want to influence your vote or try to impose my personal views concerning the election.
However, I do want to remind you of a change made in the voting schedule due to the unexpected large turnout this year.
– Republicans will vote on Tuesday, November 2nd.
– Democrats will vote on Wednesday, November 3rd.
The Jets have just beaten the Dolphins 41-14! Curtis Martin is the Horse Trailer Player of the game, running for 115 yards, 19 carries, 6.0 yards per carry average. The Jets are now 6-1, and the Dolphins are 1-7. J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS!
The Jets host the Miami Dolphins tonight at the Meadowlands. This is an important game: it’s a Monday night game against a division rival. Even though the Dolphins have a horrible record, they are coming off of a big win where they beat up on the St. Louis Rams 31-14. Monday Night Football is always fun to watch, but especially when your team is playing. Something about knowing that the whole country is watching must be extra exciting for the players of both teams.
The Jets’ record is currently 5-1 and the Dolphins are 1-6. The Jets are coming off of their first loss of the season: to the Super Bowl champs – the New England Patriots. The Jets have to get back in there and play hard tonight. Confident, but not over-confident. At any rate, you know I will be watching the game tonight and screaming at the TV for my Jets.
Well I lost a few posts, since my machine decided to have tantrums, but I am back online. There should be more posts, more often. So to the 2 readers I have, thanks for being patient.
On the email list I proposed a quick poll to see what Linux distribution most members are primarily running. If you would like, please post a comment and note your primary distro. If you are not a follower of the LILUG mailing list, please note that as well in your comment. Thanks.
OK, not to be repetitious, but now school is only one week away. Sigh. What I didn’t mention in last week’s post was the fact that I’m taking this semester’s courses online. I took an online class earlier this summer, and it went well. In fact I earned an A. This semester I am taking a Database course and a web programming course. Hopefully I will keep my 4.0 GPA going.
Yesterday on Slashdot, I was reading about the Linksys NSLU2. People have figured out that this device runs Linux on an ARM processor and now can install custom applications on it, since they were able to get a login shell. You are now able to implement your own services and programs on this storage device. For under $80 (and free shipping from Amazon!) it seems like a fun toy to play with. I wonder what running a full-featured web server such as Apache would be like. Maybe this site will run on one of these small, quiet boxes in the future…
I was just looking at my calendar, and I noticed that school starts up 2 weeks from today. Even though I took a summer class, and knew that I’d have Most of July and August off, it seems that it went by so fast. Isn’t that always the way though? Isn’t it wrong though that the Fall semester begins in August? The whole “see you in September” notion just flies right out the window also. Oh well. Time to figure out which books I need to go buy. Again.
Tonight is the Jets’ first pre-season game. If you live in the New York area catch them on CBS channel 2 at 8 PM. J!-E!-T!-S! JETS! JETS! JETS!
